Modification to 2008 IRS Mileage Allowance – Effective July 1, 2008 |

Due to recent increases in fuel prices, the IRS has announced a modification to the standard mileage rates for 2008. The standard mileage rate will increase to 58.5¢, up from 50.5¢ per mile, for business miles driven beginning July 1, 2008.
Additionally, the modified 2008 mileage rate for using a car to get medical care or mileage incurred in connection with a move that qualifies under the moving expense deduction is 27¢ per mile, up from 19¢, beginning July 1, 2008.
The mileage rate for driving an auto for charitable purposes during 2008 remains unchanged at 14¢.
