BPS Mozilla Firefox Issue

An issue in BPS has been encountered with the most recent versions of the Mozilla Firefox browser. If you use Internet Explorer as your browser for BPS, you will not encounter the issue described below.

This problem is encountered beginning with Firefox versions 2.0.0.8 and 2.0.0.9. If you close a BPS window by clicking on the in the upper right hand corner of the window, Firefox will not completely close the session. This will leave an open small window in the upper right hand corner of your screen:

In addition to requiring you to close this small window, the BPS session you just exited will remain open and will lock the records you were just budgeting (note: after 30 minutes, BPS releases the record lock).

If you properly exit a window by clicking on the EXIT button , you will not encounter this problem.

Another option to avoid this Firefox problem is to change you version of Firefox to 2.0.0.7. This version does not cause the problem when leaving a window by closing it rather than using the EXIT button. You can obtain Firefox version 2.0.0.7 at

Windows version:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.7/win32/en-US/Firefox Setup 2.0.0.7.exe

Macintosh version:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.7/mac/en-US/Firefox 2.0.0.7.dmg

If you decide to use version 2.0.0.7 of Firefox, be sure to change your Update options to turn off automatic update of new Firefox versions.

We are working with SAP to find a fix that will eliminate this problem. In the meantime, we wanted you to be aware so you can work around this issue and not cause any record locking issues in BPS.
