2009 IRS Mileage Allowance |

The IRS has announced the new standard mileage rates for 2009. The standard mileage rate decreased to 55¢ per mile, down from 58.5¢ in the second half of 2008, for business miles driven beginning January 1, 2009.
Additionally, the 2009 mileage rate for using a car to get medical care or mileage incurred in connection with a move that qualifies under the moving expense deduction is 24¢ per mile. The standard rate for medical or moving purposes in the second half of 2008 was 27¢ per mile.
The mileage rate for driving an auto for charitable purposes during 2009 remains unchanged at 14¢.
